THAILAND.

As you soon as you mention the name of the country called 'Thailand', you automatically think of Bangkok and the country's wonderful beaches. However, there is lot more to this country and one of the best ways of travelling here is by train. You can travel by night trains using either 2nd class (corridor carriage split up into two berth cubicles by corridor and separated by curtains with either ceiling fans or with air conditioning) or in the Ist class in relative comfort. This is a convenient way of travelling from Bangkok or Ayuthaya to Chiang Mai in the north or from Bangkok - Surat Thani to see the island of Koh Samui. Buddhist temples (called Wats) are scattered everywhere and some of the favourites are in Ayuthaya, Sukothai, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The excellent beaches are everywhere with the most popular being in the island resorts such as Koh Samui, Ko Phi Phi, Phuket in addition to coastal points in Krabi. The railways can also be used to visit the Bridge on river Kwai. There are many possibilities of rail travel with one of the itineraries given below:-
