CRUISE ON THE YANGTSE RIVER
The Yangtse river is an incredible natural wonder stretching from Shanghai
in North East right up to Chongking in the centre of China, with the three
gorges being one of the main highlights. A cruise along the Yangtse river
from Shanghai - Chongking would take at least a week. For most of our
customers this would constitute approx. one third of the total time spent
in China. Hence, the cruise from Wuhan to Chongqing is an ideal answer
to those who wish to view the three gorges. Those who wish to cover the
three gorges in a short space of time might wish to consider the catamaran
ride from Yichange - Yichang. This can be done as a day trip.
The trip commences in Yichang, gateway to the Upper Yangtse River. It
is approx. 4 - 5 hours by car or coach from Wuhan. Wuhan is well connected
to Beijing, Xian & Guilin by train.
The Three Gorges: Xiling Gorge : the longest at 80 kms in length
followed by Wuxia Gorge: the most interesting at a length of 40
kms and with 900m peaks on either side of the river . Then on to the smallest
of the 3 gorges, Qutang Gorge: the shortest at 8 km in length but
with the most fast flowing section.
