A week in Kashmir (7 nts).

When to Go: The best time to visit Srinagar & Kashmir is in the summer from mid April - mid October as the winters are cold. In terms of rainfall the best month to visit Kashmir is September where the precipitation is at its lowest.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN: Kashmir has just recently returned from a 24 year exile from tourism. Hence, we would recommend pre-booking all transfers & excursions in advance. If you wish to book anything else in addition to what has been booked, only make bookings through our agents in Delhi and their recommended sub-agents in Srinagar. Many other local Kashmiris would like to do a hard-sell on excursions & treks. We do not advise you to avail of the same. Whilst the Foreign office have given the go ahead for visitors to Srinagar & Jammu, it has not given the go ahead for other destinations. At all times exercise common sense & caution.

Some of the sights within are listed below:-
Srinagar: Dal & Nagin lakes, the excellent Mughal gardens (Shalimar & Nishat Bagh), Jama Masjid, Pir Dastagir Shrine and many more sights.
Gulmarg: Gulmarg (meadow of flowers especially in Spring) is 52 kms south west of Srinagar which is India's major ski resort in winter. Known for its views and good walks.
Pahalgam: 95 kms east of Srinagar and steeped in fir clad hills giving way to snow capped mountains. Excellent for views. Town important for the famous Amarnath Yatra in Jul & Aug.
If you do decide to do day trips to Gulmarg or Pahalgam from Srinagar do check the local situation before undertaking trips and also your travel insurance implications.
