Rail + Hotel Itineraries in India.


This is the most popular method of visiting India for our past customers and a great recommendation for independent travellers. This entails only two aspects of travel. They are : a rail pass (i.e. Ist Cl/AC II tier/AC Chaircar class for Indian rail rtavel) where all the rail sectors are pre-booked in advance and thus avoids the queues at the railway stations & pre-booked hotel accommodation on a twin share room only basis at the destinations (This saves approximately 1 - 2 hours at each destination in accommodation searches). The possibilities for this combination of arrangements are unlimited. We have identified various popular routes based on preferences of past customers. These are listed below in a tabular format. For detailed itineraries that include the train times and the hotel details please click either on the map route or the title of the trip. We have tried to use hotels of differing standards. They are split up into Standard and Superior.
Standard hotels are simple 2 - 3 * equivalent properties. In some cases they are small family run heritage properties which have been very popular with our past customers.
Superior hotels are generally 3 - 5* properties. Again where possible we have tried to aim for heritage properties in preference to modern concrete block type properties.
Note: Heritage properties have many positive points (examples are staying in a small haveli inside a fort, some have courtyards, sometimes rooms have old run down carpets, paintings on walls and chandeliers). Heritage properties also have negative points. Each room is completely different. One room can be much superior to the next as these are in many cases old converted palaces or merchant's mansions. Maintenance is generally one notch lower than a corresponding concrete block type hotel. Mod-cons are not necessarily similar to that of modern hotels.
We have tried to split up the trips into 3 main areas.They are: North India; South India; North + South India.

Generally concentrating on Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and sometimes adding Goa although this is in South India.
