The Maharajah's Express


The Maharajas' Express is the most luxurious train in India - designed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. It features five carriages for Deluxe Cabins, six for Junior Suites, two for Suites and one for grand Presidential Suite. Every cabin has large panoramic windows to view the beauty of the countryside. All passenger Cabins come with individual temperature controls, the first of its kind in India and have state-of-the-art facilities. LCD televisions, DVD players, direct dial telephone and internet, to name a few. In-house movies and live television also keep you entertained through the royal journey. For those used to a different power supply, the Maharajas' Express is equipped with 110/230V sockets. Every cabin also has its own electronic safe deposit box. Other items include:

  • Dining Car: It has two fine dining restaurants that seat 42 persons at a time and everyone on board dines together. House Wines and beer served whilst dining come complimentary.
  • Maharaja's Bar and Lounges: Safari bar with a wide collection of house brands of wines, beer and spirits with snacks come complimentary to every passenger.
  • There's also a lounge cum bar Raja Club with comfortable club arm-chairs.
  • Maharaja's Transport: From super deluxe coaches for Deluxe Cabin and Junior Suite passengers, to cars for the Suite and Presidential Suite passengers each at every destination. All equipped with complimentary sightseeing kits like bottle coolers, pith hats and shoe uppers.
  • Internet: High speed Internet access is available on board. Please contact the Train Manager for details.

Treasures of India and Gems of India

Both programmes are essentially the same covering Agra, Sawai Madhopur & Jaipur. 'The Gems of India' programme starts on a Wednesday and concludes on a Saturday whilst the 'Treasures of India' programme starts on a Sunday and concludes on a Wendnesday. Programme details are as below:- Detailed itinerary:

DAY 01: Board the Train at Delhi onto Agra.
After a traditional welcome complete your registration formalities and proceed to board the train. Enjoy brunch on board as you arrive into Agra.
As you reach the 'City of Mughal Splendour,' Agra explore the exquisite Agar Fort.

DAY 02: Agra - Ranthambore.
Early morning visit to the exquisite Taj Mahal. Enjoy the countryside whilst you travel to your next destination Ranthambore.
Embark on an exciting game drive after lunch into the Ranthambore National Park.


DAY 03: Jaipur
Visit the Amber Fort, enjoy an exhibition elephant polo match followed by lunch at an exclusive venue.
You may want to shop for fine jewellery & textiles or indulge in rejuvenating Spa treatment or visit the City Palace and Jantar-Mantar as optional activities.

DAY 04: Delhi
Breakfast on board as you arrive into Delhi. Bid farewell to the Maharajas Express.

Indian Splendour


DAY 01: (Saturday) Board the Train at Delhi onto Agra.
After a traditional welcome complete your registration formalities and proceed to board the train. Dinner on board.
DAY 02: (Sunday) Agra Arrive into the 'City of Mughal Splendour' Agra to visit the exquisite Taj Mahal.
Enjoy breakfast over looking the Taj followed by free time for shopping/optional tour to Fatehpur Sikri or Itmadh-udh-daulah. After lunch visit Agra Fort. Savour our in-house culinary delights at lunch & dinner on board.
DAY 03: (Monday)Ranthambore - Jaipur
Embark on an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park. Enjoy lunch on board as you enter into the Pink City- Jaipur. Visit the Amber Fort followed by an exhibition elephant polo match with dinner. You may want to shop for fine jewellery & textiles before the exciting match.
DAY 04: (Tuesday) Bikaner Arrive at the desert kingdom of Bikaner.
Take an optional excursion to Deshnok (Rat Temple) or Lalgarh Palace Museum or Camel breeding Farm. In the afternoon visit the Junagarh Fort. Participate in a camel-cart procession followed by a folk performance on the sand dunes.
DAY 05: (Wednesday) Jodhpur.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast as you arrive into Jodhpur. Visit a local village as a optional activity or relax onboard. Enjoy a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower Market and continue to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Later, savour dinner at an exclusive venue.
DAY 06: (Thursday) Udaipur.
Arrive into the Lake city of Udaipur. Visit the City Palace and Crystal Gallery followed by lunch. Then proceed for an optional 'Walking Tour' through the Old Market or visit the Vintage Car Collection of the Royal Family amongst other activities.
DAY 07: (Friday) Balasinor Visit the Dinosaur Fossil Park (One of the largest in the world) followed by a village visit and rounded off by a lunch meeting with the Royal Family to relish their unique cuisine.
DAY 08: (Saturday) Mumbai
Arrive at Mumbai and bid farewell to the Maharajas' Express after on board breakfast.

Heritage of India


DAY 01: (Saturday) Board the Train at Mumbai onto Ajanta
After traditional welcome, complete your registration formalities and proceed to board the train. Dinner on board.

DAY 02: (Sunday) Ajanta Caves
Visit the world heritage site of Ajanta : Marvel the rock cut caves in a horse-shoe shaped plateau dating back to 2nd Century B.C. with their exquisite frescoes and sculptures.

DAY 03: (Monday) Udaipur
Arrive into Lake city of Udaipur. Visit the City Palace and Crystal Gallery followed by lunch. Then proceed for an optional walking tour through the Old Market or visit the Vintage car collection of the royal family or enjoy an enthralling Sound and Light show in the Palace

DAY 04: (Tuesday) Jodhpur
A ride through countryside brings you to Jodhpur. Enjoy a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower Market and continue to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Enjoy visit to a local village as a optional activity. Then dinner.

DAY 05: (Wednesday) Bikaner.
Arrive at the desert kingdom of Bikaner. Take an optional excursion to Deshnok (Rat Temple) or Lalgarh Palace Museum or Camel breeding Farm or shop for Kundan Jewellery. In the afternoon visit Junagarh Fort. Participate in a camel-cart procession followed by a folk performance on the sand dunes.

DAY 06: (Thursday) Jaipur
Arrive at the 'Pink City' of Jaipur. An exhibition elephant polo match and lunch is followed by a to the Amber Fort followed by free time for optional activities-shopping/Spa/Golfing/visit to City Palace.

DAY 07: (Friday) Ranthambore - Fatehpur Sikri
Embark on an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park. Continue the journey to see the city of Fatehpur Sikri with central courtyards and a mosque and gives a real sense of Mughal architechture .

DAY 08: (Saturday) Agra
Disembark in Agra - Proceed for an early morning visit to the Taj Mahal followed by breakfast. Continue to Delhi as your journey comes to an end.

The Indian Panorama


DAY 01: (Saturday) Board the Train at Delhi onto Jaipur.
After a traditional welcome complete your registration formalities and proceed to board the train and enjoy on board dinner as you begin this wonderful journey.

DAY 02: (Sunday) Jaipur.
After on board breakfast proceed to visit the Amber Fort followed by an Elephant Polo match with lunch. In the afternoon you can enjoy optional activities-Spa Treatment/Shopping/ Golf/visit to City Palace and Jantar Mantar.

DAY 03: (Monday)Ranthambore - Fatehpur Sikri.
Embark on an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park. Enjoy lunch onboard as you enter into the city Fatehpur Sikri with central courtyards and a mosque and gives a real sense of Mughal architechture.

DAY 04: (Tuesday) Agra - Gwalior.
Disembark for an early morning visit to the exquisite Tai Mahal followed by breakfast. Continue to Gwalior. Relish lunch at the 1 20 year old Usha Kiran Palace, Followed by a tour of the magnificent Gwalior Fort (once a royal prison) and Jai Vilas with Hi-tea in the palace compounds.

DAY 05: (Wednesday) Orchha - Khajuraho.
Proceed to the Jahangin Mahal in Orchha and continue to the World Heritage erotic temples of Khajuraho especialy Khandariya Mahadev temple complex.

DAY 06: (Thursday) Varanasi.
Tour the ancient holy city of Varanasi with over 300 ghtas and then the Buddhist stupas and ruins of Sarnath, Varanasi Silk Weaving Centre and a scenic cruise on the sacred Ganges. Witness the magical' evening Aarti on the ghat: of the Ganges.

DAY 07: (Friday) Lucknow.
Lucknow is referred to as ' The City of Nawabs'. Tour the Rumi Darwaza and the spectacular Bada lmambara. Opt to explore the bustling markets of this royal city. Experience the elegance and charm of traditional hospitality during an exclusive dinner and relish Awadhi cuisine from the Royal Kitchen.

DAY 08: (Saturday) Delhi.
After breakfast, disembark into Delhi and bid farewell to the Train.
