This is an inter-connected set of islands, waterways and the mainland. It is a great base for backwaters boat trips, viewing a Katahkali performance (an amazing dance drama with facial movements) and many sights such as the Mattancherry Palace, the Jewish Synagogue. Overnight stay on a Keralan houseboat is a unique experience covering the backwaters through the narrow canals separated by small strips of land where coconut trees form arches.
